Forecast for February 2010 (All times EST)

The retrograde Mars (Leo) also moves into a sextile to a retrograde Saturn (Libra), two signs that at least share a Masculine polarity, and they'll remain sextile to each other until mid April. As if things aren't already way too complex, Jupiter becomes the focus of a Yod from the Mars/Saturn sextile base, especially strong the first half of February. We can expect to see some high-profile stories of people living the high life, and that "splash" we'll be hearing will be their ill advised cannonball dive into the depths from too great a height.

Jupiter moves along and Venus follows right behind, taking Jupiter's place as the focus of the same Mars/Saturn-generated Yod from roughly the 12th through to the 16th. Very simply, this "minor" shift can be seen as a celestial Battle Royale of the genders, with both Venus and Mars as the focuses of separate and conflicting Yods, yet connected to the difficult Saturn/Pluto square throughout mid February. Nope, Venus and Mars will not be seeing eye-to-eye either, a whirlwind of another sort to deal with.

On the one hand, people in loving and playful child-like relationships can be having one hell of a wonderful time together, while couples in argumentative and dysfunctional relationships will be having a "wonderful" time in the hell they've created for themselves. The same can be forecast for men who are living in hatred, disgust, shame or denial of their feminine side, and vice versa for women with their inner male. Call out the counselors.

Venus Herself moves on only to be replaced by the Sun as the focus of the Mars/Saturn sextile-based Yod from roughly the 19th through to the 25th, singeing the short hairs of any remaining irresponsible party-goers. Bottom line for these complex set of Yods, the more appropriate mantra for the middle of February will be to "make love not war," a blast from the past in search of a much needed revival-style comeback.

Right in the (centered!) middle of this gender-bending maelstrom is the New Moon of February 13, a glorious opportunity to find some quality quiet time - if it's at all possible - to meditate on some potentially life-changing epiphanies. This New Moon will be situated at 26° Aquarius, virtually unaspected to any other planet with the highly significant exception of Neptune and Chiron - both less than one degree away at 27° Aquarius. This can be a rare case for new beginnings that involves a meaningful reflection on the past year, specifically regarding whatever spiritual arrangements and personal evolution we've been making for our expectations surrounding 2012 and the end of the you-know-what. Again, this New Moon screams out for us to be as centered, still and peaceful as we can be with and for ourselves - difficult to say the least.

Twenty-seven degrees Aquarius is the same degree where Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune (J/C/N) set-up their communion of this past May and June, the first time these three were all in the same/any degree of the zodiac at the same time in at least the past 2,009 years. To review these concluding sets of mini miracles, the J/C/N has been offering some opportunities for big-time (Jupiter) spiritual (Neptune) healing (Chiron) for those of us who want it, while guaranteeing some overblown (Jupiter) delusional (Neptune) pains (Chiron) for people actively working against their karmic responsibilities.

If anyone missed out on that wonderful chance to make significant spiritual corrections in their lives this past year - the dawning of the Aquarian Age - this New Moon can be a time for some very real and positive new beginnings. And for those of us seeking affirmations about our timeless rediscoveries, this New Moon can also be like a renewal of our Soul's marriage vows to ourselves, in finding purpose for us to move fearlessly into the unknown future.

Feel free to merge these two Sabian images together if you can. For Chiron and Neptune at 27° Aquarius - a return of the J/C/N communion of 2009 - "An ancient pottery bowl filled with fresh violets," and for the New Moon at 26° Aquarius, "A garage man testing a car's battery with a hydrometer."

On display here are two images of ancient and relatively recent knowledge, the pottery bowl of an unknown ancestry and a hydrometer, a high-tech device when the Sabian symbols were first devised in 1925. The bowl can be imagined to be a relic from any relevant past-life memories that are returning to us at this time, and as a vessel can carry with it any content that speaks to us of spiritual (Neptune) healing (Chiron), specifically from a time when our distant ancestors lived more in harmony with the natural world.

The fresh violets in the bowl are a call for us to add our own touches - our own contents - into the bowl to refresh karmic memories, perhaps even from the apex of the Mayan civilization. Simply keep in mind the Good Professor Saturn's syllabus for 2010, that the ancient contents of this bowl may contain an inner knowledge we've subsequently forgotten, some things we may need to remember in order to build our new world.

The image of the garage man utilizing the hydrometer works for us on at least two levels. First, this mechanic is us, checking our own batteries to see if we have enough juice - enough charge and intuitive faith - to keep us going throughout the rapidly intensifying whirlwinds of change. Second, this symbol can generate a spark to ignite the imaginations of the Creative Class to invent some new technologies, specifically to promote sustainable power sources which is one of the major component potentials for the astrological event of 2010 in July and August, the so-called Cardinal Square. This alignment of Saturn, Uranus and Pluto is vaguely reminiscent of the compelling mini era of 1876 - 1877 when the monumental achievements of the electric light bulb, phonograph and telephone were invented.

This New Moon sees its culmination at the Full Moon of February 28 after a relatively quiet week, with "only" Mercury overtaking both Neptune and Chiron on the 27th. At least we'll be able to grasp a little spiritual (Neptune) healing (Chiron) on an intellectual (Mercury) level, something that should never be taken for granted. After all, if we can't conceptualize spiritual healing, we'll never be able to attain it. Mercury's brief contribution to the proceedings reminds us to imagine our castles in the clouds, but then we need to build foundations (a New World) strong and high enough to reach them.

Big-daddy Jupiter is joined by the Sun at this Full Moon (10° Pisces), expanding the Sabian image of "An aviator pursues his journey, flying through ground-obscuring clouds." At once, this image reminds us of the power of blind faith, a faith of perseverance through the clouds of the unknown. It also speaks to the wisdom of fearlessness and self-mastery, of relying on our inner navigational skills to know that life is all about the journey and that the destination will be there if we've been staying on course.

When joined with the Full Moon at 10° Virgo, "Two heads looking out and beyond the shadows," we see a complementary image of sight through the night, our third eye's way of searching for recognizable patterns where there might not ordinarily be any (the surreal). There are also two heads here, showing us the benefit of collaboration among like-minded people, as in two heads are better than one. These two might easily be looking out from the wreckage of their homes after a tornado swept through, something we might all be feeling like after the whirlwinds of February.

Hold the center.
